Good Friday Sunset Tenebrae Service
7:00 p.m.
Time7:00 p.m.
Location
DescriptionJoin together with us in remembrance of Jesus for a time of worship, including the Lord’s Supper. A Tenebrae Service starts out with the church in candlelight. There are as many candles as there are readings, plus a Christ candle. The readers go up one at a time, read their assigned selections, and extinguish one of the candles, until only the Christ candle remains. Someone reads the final reading and then the Christ candle is put out, leaving the congregation in total darkness. At this point, the service ends and the people leave in silence. It will be a powerful visual and emotional focus on the crucifixtion of Jesus Christ.
